Bicycle riders who sign up now, in July, will get early-bird rates for the new Sky Island Tour.

The bike ride will have three options: a 62-mile ride with sag wagon and water stops; a 21-mile and a 5-mile route. The event will begin at 7 a.m. at the Windemere Hotel in Sierra Vista on Saturday, September 24th. The 62-mile riders will travel to Bisbee via Highway 92 and Hereford Road and return by way of Highways 80 and 90. The 21-mile riders will follow the Cochise Vista loop on hike/bike paths in Sierra Vista, and the 5-mile fun riders will follow a loop of hike-bike paths beginning and ending at the hotel. These rides, sponsored by NAMI Southeastern Arizona with the support of the Cochise Bicycle Advocates, are designed to be suitable for all ages and all levels of expertise.

This fee increases to $40 in August. A $20 fee is charged for the 21-mile ride and a $10 fee is charged for the 5-mile fun ride. Special rates are available for families interested in riding the 21-mile or 5-mile rides together. The event benefits NAMI, which educates, supports and advocates for those whose lives have been affected by mental illness. It’s a great way to celebrate the fall season in southeastern Arizona!

A scenic one-day bicycle tour in Cochise County, Arizona. Sky Islands are known in the southwest as mountain ranges surrounded by radically different lowland environments. All Sky Island tour rides are a loop, beginning and ending at the Windemere Hotel in Sierra Vista, AZ.

Metric Century

The metric century 62-mile bicycle ride takes place on mostly rural roads with an adequate shoulder width to provide a comfortable ride for the intermediate to advanced rider. The ride passes through Historic Bisbee, Arizona ( and twice crosses over the San Pedro River. Two support stops will provide water, performance drink, and snacks. Restaurants in Bisbee also provide an opportunity to eat and rest, which is about half way through the ride. Technical support is also provided on the route if needed.

Cochise-Vista Ride:

A 21-mile bicycle ride around Sierra Vista on the newly designated Cochise-Vistas Bicycle Route. This casual ride for all level of riders takes place on multi-use paths and when not on a multi-use path most roads are stripped with a bike lane.

Fun Ride:

A 5-mile fun ride in Sierra Vista on the Country Club fitness loop. Bring the entire family for this easy ride on all multi-use path.

Day of Rides: Saturday Morning September 24, 6:00 - 9 a.m.

All metric Century riders are required to start before 9:00 a.m.

Additional parking is available across the road at the Mall of Sierra Vista.
